INSTITUTE HALL AT ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Scope: New construction of a 78,000 square foot academic building that houses chemistry, biomedical and teaching laboratories and features a high-end computing system, thin film laboratory, laser laboratory and fully-operational vivarium. Challenges included building on an active, occupied campus, relocating underground utilities and coordinating the mechanical room on the top floor of the building. The building houses one of only four green data centers in the US, and is seeking LEED Platinum certification through the US Green Business Council. The project was completed in 18-months.
