ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY – STUDENT HOUSING

ROCHESTER, NY

Scope: This project, done in two continuous phases included extensive fire alarm, security and data communications work, as well as electrical work for one hundred and ninety two, four bedroom garden style apartments. Due to the hectic scheduling requirements imposed with students moving in, this job required extreme flexibility in staffing to stay within time and budget requirements. The RADEC Corporation continually met or exceeded all milestone requirements on this large project.

INSTITUTE HALL AT ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

ROCHESTER, NY

Scope: New construction of a 78,000 square foot academic building that houses chemistry, biomedical and teaching laboratories and features a high-end computing system, thin film laboratory, laser laboratory and fully-operational vivarium. Challenges included building on an active, occupied campus, relocating underground utilities and coordinating the mechanical room on the top floor of the building. The building houses one of only four green data centers in the US, and is seeking LEED Platinum certification through the US Green Business Council. The project was completed in 18-months.

GLOBAL VILLAGE AT ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY ( PHASE 1 AND 2 )

ROCHESTER, NY

Scope: Radec provided all the electrical and teledata expertise on this residential/commercial complex consisting of three independent structures with an elaborate courtyard area in the middle. The main 4-story building is 190,000 square feet and the two additional three-story building are each approximately 32,000 square feet.

ALLIED HEALTH BUILDING AT ALFRED STATE COLLEGE

ALFRED, NY

Scope: Complete renovation of the 55,000 square foot Physical and Health Sciences Building transformed the building into a high-tech teaching facility, creating new student seating areas along corridors, public meeting spaces, and the highest quality teaching laboratories with world class academic technology. The building houses the forensic science technology, biology and nursing programs and maintains academic laboratories, nursing suites, laboratory media preparation and chemical storage areas, lecture halls, student lounges, and faculty office spaces. The building includes an 18-kilowatt photovoltaic array on its south-facing roof which is expected to provide a 55% annual energy reduction. The renovation/upgrade was completed in 2012 and was recently recognized by the American Council of engineering companies (ACEC) New York, earning a platinum award for engineering excellence and is now officially LEED Gold certified by the US Green Building Council.

PEGGY RYAN WILLIAMS CENTER AT ITHACA COLLEGE

ITHACA, NY

Scope: This 57,500 square foot building was completed in 2009 and houses the admissions and administrative offices for the College. It is linked to an existing building through an elevated bridge. It was designed and built to reduce energy and resource consumption and enhance indoor environmental quality, and was granted LEED Platinum certification by the US Green Building Council in January 2011. It also received the Design Excellence Award from the American Institute of Architects and the Best Educational Project in the Central New York Business Journal’s A Time To Build Awards Program.

ALFRED STATE COLLEGE TOWNHOMES

ALFRED, NY

Scope: New construction of this 48,250 square foot 25-unit residential student facility was completed on-time and on-budget. The 150-bed townhouse styled complex boasts six residential buildings that each offer four or five apartments. Each apartment includes 6 private bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, a living room and fully equipped kitchen area. The community center features centralized laundry facilities, meeting facilities, and a fully-equipped kitchen and serving area.

WELLS COLLEGE SCIENCE BUILDING

AURORA, NY

Scope: New construction of this 47,000 square foot science building required all the skill and expertise that RADEC is recognized for. The facility incorporates open meeting areas into the building’s main thoroughfare and a two story atrium to maximize the facilities teaching space. It includes a 92-seat lecture hall with state of the art multi-media systems, “smart” classrooms featuring wall-to-wall smartboards and computer projection capabilities, and state-of-the-art computer labs.

MCFARLANE HALL AT SUNY BROCKPORT

BROCKPORT, NY

Scope: Complete renovation of this residence hall was completed in 2005. It is a corridor-style building with 85 student rooms and shared bathrooms, lounges and kitchens on each floor, laundry facilities and a recreation room.

HAYES HALL AT SUNY CORTLAND

CORTLAND, NY

Scope: Complete renovation of this residence hall was completed in 2005. It is a corridor-style building with double rooms on three floors and laundry facilities and a recreation room on the lower floor. It is completely wired for internet access.
